Snow!!! - Nieve!!!

Dec. 9th., 2013. First snow of the season!! And now I'm sure you can imagine my smile!!
Around 4:30 p.m., I decided to go for a walk to Bear Creek park, sure that I'll be able to enjoy our first snow even a little more!! It was dark (as you can see in the pictures, LOL!), and as I wasn't using the right boots, I ''skidded'' twice, but fortunately I wasn't hurt, and with the emotion of being around snow, I just laughed at myself!!!
Dic. 9, 2013. La primera nieve de la temporada!! Y ahora estoy segura que pueden imaginarse mi sonrisa!!
A eso de las 4:30 p.m., decidi dar una caminada por el parque Quebrada del oso, segura de que disfrutaria aun un poco mas  nuestra primera nevada!! Ya estaba oscuro (como pueden ver en las fotos, jajaja!), y como no estaba usando las botas adecuadas, me ''resbale'' dos veces, pero afortunadamente no me lastime, y con la emocion que tenia de estar con nieve alrededor, simplemente me rei de mi misma!!

Beautiful snow!! What a glory to be there and enjoy it!! I can understand people saying they don't like it, but seeing it falling, ''dusting'' leaves, trees and branches, fresh, all white, so light and soft,  it's impossible for me to think that somebody can say it isn't pretty!!
La hermosa nieve!! Que glorioso es estar ahi y disfrutarla!! Puedo entender a la gente que dice que no le gusta, pero verla caer, ''espolvoreando'' hojas, arboles y ramas, fresca, toda blanquita, tan ligera y suave, es imposible para mi el pensar que haya alguien que diga que no es hermosa!!

And now, with some snow .... and of course, no squirrels around at this time!!
Y ahora, con algo de nieve .... y por supuesto, sin ardillas alrededor a esta hora!!

I don't know if you can understand my ''fascination'' with snow, something so ''simple'' but that means so much to me!!
No se si pueden entender mi ''fascinacion'' con la nieve, algo tan ''simple'' pero que significa tanto para mi!!

Snow is a wonderful thing. Every time we have a new snowfall, I discover ''new ways'' to enjoy it even a little more!! Amazing to think that with all the snowflakes being different (no one is the same than other), they can create so much beauty together, giving some people so much delight!!
La nieve es algo maravilloso. Cada vez que tenemos una nueva nevada, descubro ''nuevas maneras'' de disfrutarla aun un poco mas!! Asombroso el pensar que todos los copos siendo diferentes (ningun copo es igual a otro), juntos pueden crear tanta belleza, dandonos a algunas personas tanto deleite!!
  

 

The creek is at the bottom, and as I wanted to take a closer picture, going down was my first skid!!
La quebrada esta abajo, y como queria tomar una foto mas de cerca, bajando fue mi primer resbalon!!

The closest I was able to go, didn't want to skid again and finish in the creek!!
Lo mas cerca que pude ir, no queria resbalarme de nuevo y terminar en la quebrada!!

Of course I was very happy, even more with the snow falling again!!
Por supuesto estaba dichosa, aun mas con la nieve cayendo de nuevo!!

And with that weather, I didn't invite John to go with me, I don't want him to wait for me siting  down in a bench covered by snow (just joking)!!
Y con ese clima, no invite a John a que fuera conmigo, no quiero que me espere sentado en una banca cubierta de nieve (es una broma)!!

And at that moment I began my return home, enjoying the snow falling and the one on the floor!!
Y en ese momento comence a regresarme a casa, disfrutando de la nieve cayendo y de la que ya estaba en el suelo!!
 

I couldn't see it, and you neither, but at the exact moment I was taking this picture, a fish ''jumped'', I could hear it!!
No lo pude ver, y ustedes tampoco, pero en el exacto momento en que estaba tomando esta foto, un pez ''salto'', lo pude escuchar!!

Can you read it? Don't worry, me neither (LOL)!!
Lo pueden leer? No se preocupen, yo tampoco (jajaja)!!

My flash isn't powerful enough to be able to take a clearer picture of this tree, but you can see it anyway!!
Mi flash no es tan poderoso como para poder tomar una foto mas clara de este arbol, pero igual lo pueden ver!!

Day or night, when the sunlight or the moonlight (or my flash!!) shine on it, makes everything so bright, so spectacular!!
This is the last one there from that night, and leaving the park was my second and last skid, took a little hill, and even I was walking carefully, found ice and that was it!!
En el dia o en la noche, cuando la luz del sol o de la luna (o de mi flash) brillan sobre ella, hace lucir todo tan  brillante, tan espectacular!!
Esta es la ultima de esa noche alli, y saliendo del parque fue mi segundo resbalon, tome una lomita, y aunque estaba caminando cuidadosamente, me encontre hielo y ahi cai!!
   

Close to home. Can you imagine how cold it was to be able to ''freeze'' the water coming down of the hood?
Cerca a casa. Se pueden imaginar como estaba de frio que pudo ''congelar'' el agua cayendo del capo?

First ones!! - Los primeros!!

A new week, and finally ..... some snow!!! I'm really happy, but today I'm not posting any pictures of our first snow of the season, but the first ones from our decorations, between others, enjoy them!!
Una nueva semana, y finalmente .... algo de nieve!!! Estoy dichosa, pero hoy no voy a bajar ninguna foto de la primera nevada de la temporada, pero si las primeras de nuestras decoraciones, entre otras, disfrutenlas!!

My ''first'' Christmas cards wreath!! The first card, the one with a family, are the Prime Minister and his family, that John received some years ago and we still have it!!
Mi ''primera'' corona con tarjetas de Navidad!! La primera tarjeta, con una familia, son el Primer Ministro y su familia, que John la recibio hace unos anos y aun la tenemos!!

Another snowman, newer, somebody gave it to me after last Christmas!!
Otro muneco de nieve, mas nuevo, alguien me lo dio luego de la pasada temporada navidena!!

Our Godson, James, celebrated his 13th. birthday last Saturday, but we just went yesterday (Sunday) to have dinner with them!!
Nuestro ahijado, James, que celebro su 13 cumpleanos el pasado sabado, pero nosotros apenas fuimos ayer (domingo) a cenar con ellos!!

My best Christmas gift, having him at home!!
Mi mejor regalo de Navidad, tenerlo en casa!!

Can you notice my happiness? Being able to enjoy the Holiday Season with him is one of the main reasons  to celebrate!!
Pueden notar mi felicidad? El poder celebrar con el la temporada Navidena es una de las razones principales para celebrar!!

Animals around!! - Animales alrededor!!

This has been a busy week for me, having appointments Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Wednesday I came back the same way than the day before, through Bear Creek park, and took some more pictures! And Thursday I had two appointments at the same office, one at 9:00 a.m. and another one at 1:00 p.m. As I didn't have time to come back home, I stayed around, and when talking to John I heard some geese pretty close, you cannot imagine my surprise and how happy I was when I saw plenty of them!!
Esta ha sido una semana ocupada para mi, con citas el martes, el miercoles, y jueves. El miercoles me vine a casa otra vez atravesando el parque y tomando mas fotos! Y el jueves tuve 2 citas en el mismo lugar, una a las 9:00 a.m. y la otra a la 1:00 p.m., pero como no tenia tiempo de volver a casa, me quede paseando por los alrededores, y cuando estaba hablando con John escuche unos gansos muy cerquita, no se imaginan mi sorpresa y la alegria que me dio cuando vi todos los que habia!!

We live at 84 and this side of the park begins at 88, then, it's normally pretty easy for me to come home walking (from a close place) or getting out of the bus at 88 and then cross the park, and with scenarios like this one, don't you think this is a perfect place to enjoy relaxing meanwhile doing some exercise?
Nosotros vivimos en la 84 y este lado del parque comienza en la 88, asi que es muy facil para mi regresar a casa caminando (desde un lugar cercano) o bajarme del bus en la 88 y luego cruzar el parque, y con escenarios como este, no creen que es un lugar perfecto para disfrutar relajandome mientras hago algo de ejercicio?
   

And being able to see some very cute animals, of course I try to take ''advantage'' of places like this one everytime I have an opportunity!!
Y el poder ver algunos animales adorables, por supuesto que trato de tomar ''ventaja'' de lugares como este cada vez que tengo oportunidad!!

And for me, being able to enjoy this park, this squirrel eating, a nice little cold afternoon, everything was perfect, even the moment to be able to enjoy all of these!!

Y para mi, el poder disfrutar este parque, esta ardilla comiendo, una tarde un poco fria pero agradable, todo era perfecto, inclusive el momento para poder disfrutar de todo esto!!  

And also seeing the salmons returning to spawn to their home streams from their long journey in the Pacific ocean!!
Y tambien ver a los salmones regresar a desovar a sus arroyos de origen despues de su largo viaje por el oceano Pacifico!!

And it can sounds a little ''silly'' but it's very nice to see them!! At this exact moment a grandpa and his grandson were on the little bridge with me, and you couldn't say which one of us was more excited about seeing them!!
Y puede sonar algo ''tonto'' pero es genial el poderlos ver!! En este preciso momento un abuelo y su nieto estaban en el puentecito conmigo, y no podrian decir quien de nosotros estaba mas emocionado de verles!!
    

The geese!! They were in a train tracks ground and this was the best I could do zooming the lens of the camera through one of the ''holes'' of the fence!!
Los gansos!! Estaban en una zona de carriles para trenes y esto fue lo mejor que pude hacer con el zoom de la camara a traves de uno de los ''huecos'' de la reja!!

I was talking with John and after telling him what I just saw, I hanged up, took some pictures, and called him back, completely excited about being there with them (the geese)!!!
Estaba hablando con John y luego de decirle lo que acababa de ver, colgue, tome algunas fotos, y lo volvi a llamar, super emocionada de estar alli con ellos (los gansos)!!!
 

By now you probably know how much I like geese, Canadian geese!!
Ahora ya probablemente saben cuanto me gustan los gansos, los gansos Canadienses!!

Some resting and enjoying some sunshine, others looking for food on the tracks, and all of them making me feel a lot of joy!!
Algunos descansando y gozando algo de sol, otros buscando comida en los carriles, y todos ellos haciendome sentir muy feliz!!

How fortunate I was having some time between appointments, and of course, being at that specific place!! You see? Perfect place at the perfect time!!
Que afortunada de tener algo de tiempo libre entre las citas, y por supuesto, estar en ese lugar especifico!! Si ven? El lugar perfecto a la hora perfecta!!

They are really pretty!! I was telling John that night that the goslings are cute, and the adults are spectacular, but the ones not babies not adults, even they are cute too, aren't very pretty!!
Son realmente hermosos!! Le decia a John esa noche que los gansitos son preciosos, los adultos son espectaculares, pero los que no son bebes ni adultos, aunque tambien son adorables, no son muy bonitos!!

Zoom it and you could see another group of geese between the locomotor and the first track, they were everywhere!!
Agrandenla y podran ver otro grupo de gansos entre la locomotora y el primer carril, estaban por todas partes!!

What a wonderful time I had being there and enjoying them!!
Que rato mas formidable pase estando alli y disfrutandolos!!

And to finish, children aren't the only ones enjoying with simple things, for me to be there at the right moment and just looking at them was something really amazing!!
Y para terminar, los ninos no son los unicos que gozan con cosas simples, para mi el estar alli en el momento preciso y poderlos ver fue realmente grandioso!!

December!! - Diciembre!!

Even we're still enjoying some sunny weather, we're also having freezing temperatures, and last Friday we went to the boat to winterize it (with a heater that turns on when temperatures are at certain low). And coming back home I was able to take pictures of some swans, an ''unique'' opportunity!!
But I'm also posting some pictures I took at Bear Creek park today, enjoy them!!
Aunque aun estamos disfrutando algo de clima soleado, tambien estamos con temperaturas heladas, y el pasado viernes fuimos al velero para dejarlo listo para invierno (con un calentador que se enciende cuando la temperatura esta a cierto grado). Y regresando a casa pude tomar fotos de unos cisnes, una oportunidad ''unica''!!
Pero tambien estoy poniendo algunas fotos que tome hoy en el parque Quebrada del oso, disfrutenlas!!

Just in time!! They were getting ready to fly away!!
Justo a tiempo!! Se estaban preparando para salir volando!!

They were flying in groups, can you see the one ready to fly?
Salian en grupos, pueden ver el que esta listo para volar?

Ah!! and we also have (hopefully had!) our own mole!! Look where he dug! (Our back yard.)
Ah!! y tambien tenemos (esperamos que sea que tuvimos!!) nuestro propio topo!! Miren donde excavo! (Nuestro jardin trasero.)

This morning I had an appointment more or less near by, and I decided to come back walking, through Bear Creek park. Can you see the salmon?
Esta manana tuve una cita mas o menos cerca, y decidi regresar caminando, pasando por el parque Quebrada del oso. Pueden ver el salmon?

And yes, now I'm sure that the people from the park feed them!!
Y si, ahora estoy segura que la gente del parque les alimenta!!

Algunos de los patos disfrutando de la quebrada (que probablemente esta bien, bien fria)!!

What I like the most from squirrels are their tales, so ''fluffy''!!!
Lo que mas me gusta de las ardillas son sus colas, tan ''esponjosas''!!!

And as I mentioned before, I also like the black ones, and this one looks adorable!!
Y como mencione antes, tambien me gustan las negras, y esta luce adorable!!

Just another little squirrel, but that helps me to realize some of my blessings: I can walk and enjoy the park, I can see the squirrel, have a camera in my purse that I can take a picture with, download it to my laptop, post it, and send it to you, even the same day I took it, and the incredible feeling to be able to enjoy all of these things!!
Simplemente otra ardillita, pero que me ayuda a darme cuenta de algunas de mis bendiciones: puedo caminar y disfrutar del parque, puedo ver la ardilla, tengo una camara en mi bolso con la que puedo tomar la foto, bajarla a mi laptop, ponerla en el blog, y enviarselas, inclusive el mismo dia que la tome, y el sentimiento tan increible de poder disfrutar de todas estas cosas!!

Life isn't perfect but is worth living!! And meanwhile the squirrel was enjoying the food and some sunshine, I was enjoying a wonderful walk through the park, and also taking pictures like this one!!
La vida no es perfecta pero vale la pena vivirla!! Y mientras la ardilla estaba disfrutando la comida y algo de sol, yo estaba disfrutando de una formidable caminata a traves del parque, y tambien tomando fotos como esta!!

Ducks and squirrels aren't the only ones enjoying the seeds, birds too!! I was amazed how many birds I saw today!!
Patos y ardillas no son las unicos disfrutando las semillas, los pajaros tambien!! Hoy me asombre con todos los pajaros que vi!!

And to finish here, another little bird, that like me, is enjoying life!!!
