Snow!! - Nieve!!

After the great news about John's health last week, I couldn't finish the weekend in a better way, enjoying the snow falling, I was so excited that I could barely believe it!!
Saturday morning a friend called me to let me know it was snowing, I went out and took some pictures. That evening we went to visit some friends and I took more pictures there. Sunday, as it was still snowing, once John went to take a nap, I went to Bear creek park to enjoy it even more!!
And Monday, incredible, I was still enjoying it, 3 days in a row!! 
Luego de las grandiosas noticias sobre la salud de John la semana pasada, no pude terminar el fin de semana de mejor manera, disfrutando de la nieve cayendo, estaba tan dichosa que a duras penas me lo creia!!
El sabado en la manana me llamo una amiga para decirme que estaba nevando, fui afuera y tome algunas fotos. Esa tarde fuimos a visitar unos amigos y alli tome mas fotos. El domingo, como aun estaba nevando, una vez John se fue a tomar una siesta, yo me fui al parque Quebrada del oso a disfrutarla aun mas!!
Y el lunes, increible, aun la estaba disfrutando, 3 dias seguidos!!

It was snowing a little but also raining, and with that conditions, the snow was melting in seconds!!
Estaba nevando un poco pero lloviendo tambien, y con esas condiciones, la nieve se estaba derritiendo en segundos!!

But after a little while, it was snowing harder ....
Pero luego de un rato, estaba nevando mas fuerte ....
 

And covering everything making it looks like decorated with icing sugar!! (Our backyard.)
Y cubriendo todo haciendolo parecer decorado con azucar glass!! (Nuestro jardin trasero.)

Once at our friends. They have a beautiful backyard and once we arrived, I said hello and went out to take some more pictures!!
Ya donde nuestros amigos. Tienen un hermoso jardin trasero y una vez llegamos, dije hola y sali a tomar mas fotos!!

Isn't it nice? I love it!!
No es preciosa? Me encanta!!

I don't know what it is that attracts me so much about snow, maybe is the way it makes everything look so clean, so pure, so charming!!
No se que es lo que me atrae tanto sobre la nieve, tal vez es la forma en que hace lucir todo, tan limpio, tan puro, tan encantador!!

I know some people doesn't like it, but to me, it's like a blessing that helps everything else to look prettier!!
Se que hay gente a la que no le gusta, pero para mi, es como una bendicion que ayuda a que todo luzca mas hermoso!!

And as with many other things, I respect what other people think about it, and hope that other people also respect what a simple thing like a snowfall means to me!!
Y como con muchas otras cosas, respeto lo que la gente piensa sobre ella, pero tambien espero que otra gente respete lo que una cosa tan simple como una nevada significa para mi!!
    

There is something magical and beautiful about it. Just let it brings out our inner child and enjoy it!!
Hay algo magico y hermoso sobre la nieve. Dejemosla sacar nuestro nino interior y disfrutemosla!!

There are always options for everything. And about snow, we can enjoy it or complaint about it, but no matter what, whenever is time for snow, we'll have it!!
Siempre hay opciones para todo. Y sobre la nieve, podemos disfrutarla o quejarnos sobre ella, pero sin importar nada mas, cuando es hora de tener nieve, la tendremos!!
 

It's hard to describe the joy I get from it, but I was reading something that kind of says what it means to me, "snowflakes are like kisses sent down from Heaven." Author unknown.

Sunday morning, this was the wonderful scenario I woke up to!! Our backyard covered with a white blanket!!
Domingo por la manana, este fue el maravilloso escenario con el que desperte!! Nuestro jardin trasero cubierto con una manta blanca!!

The other day I was talking to a friend about how clean and pure everything looks with the fresh snow, and in certain way, it also made me think about asking God to clean us too!!
El otro dia hablaba con una amiga sobre que tan limpio y puro luce todo con la nieve fresca, y en cierta forma, tambien me hizo pensar en pedirle a Dios que nos limpie de igual manera!!
  

Sunday afternoon, with John taking a nap, still with daylight and snowing a little, I went to Bear creek park, and just entering, a beautiful robin enjoying the calm and gorgeous surroundings!!
Domingo en la tarde, con John tomando una siesta, aun con luz del dia y nevando un poco, me fui al parque Quebrada del oso, y apenas entrando, un hermoso robin gozando de la calma y preciosos alrededores!!

How marvelous nature is!! The snow around, but animals like this duck, still able to enjoy their habitats!!
Que maravillosa es la naturaleza!! Con nieve alrededor, pero animales como esta pata, aun pueden disfrutar de sus habitats!!

I'm amaze that the snow stays on the branches!!

Whether we see the snow as lovely, dangerous, or both, depends, like beauty, on the beholder!!
We can think about farmers being hurt by dry conditions, we can also think about the inspiration it brings to artists, we can think about how well it preserves a lot of things, we can think of many positive things about snow, or all the contrary!! But as with everything, how we see it depends only on us!!
Ya sea que veamos la nieve como algo precioso, peligrosa, o ambas, depende, como la belleza, de quien la mire!! Podemos pensar en los granjeros sufriendo con sequias, tambien podemos pensar en la inspiracion que brinda a los artistas, podemos pensar en lo bien que conserva muchas cosas, podemos pensar en muchas cosas positivas acerca de la nieve, o todo lo contrario!! Pero como con todo, como la vemos depende exclusivamente de nosotros!!
         

And meanwhile we still have it, let's rejoice in its beauty, that pretty soon it'll be melted!!
Y mientras aun la tengamos, vamos a disfrutar de su belleza, que pronto ya estara derretida!! 

It's "amazing" for me how I can "catch" a detail and looking at it once downloaded, to discover even more new details, as well as being able to show them to all of you!!
Es "asombroso" para mi el como puedo "atrapar" un detalle y una vez bajo la foto, descubrir aun mas nuevos detalles, asi como tambien el poderselos mostrar a todos ustedes!!
 

Loving it or not, I'm sure we all agree that snow is a great artist that can create "masterpieces"!!
Nos encante o no, estoy segura que todos estamos de acuerdo que la nieve es una gran artista que puede crear "obras maestras"!!

It seems birds are the "brave" ones, ducks and little birds were the only ones I saw this day!!
Parece que las aves son las unicas "valientes", patos y pajaritos fueron los unicos que vi este dia!!

For me, there are few things more "magical" than looking at the snow gently falling over the trees, offering us such a beautiful sight!!
Para mi, hay pocas cosas mas "magicas" que mirar a la nieve cayendo suavemente sobre los arboles, ofreciendonos una vista tan hermosa!!
 

These last 3 pictures are from our backyard. Some people can think it's ''silly'' to take pictures like these ones, but I'm so fascinated with the snow, that for me it's ''natural'' to see its beauty every time I look at it!!
Estas 3 ultimas fotos son de nuestro jardin trasero. Algunos pueden pensar que es una ''tonteria'' tomar fotos como estas, pero estoy tan fascinada con la nieve, que para mi es ''natural'' ver su belleza cada vez que la miro!!
  

Something so delicate but at the same time, so strong!! I love it, but as with life, we need to be careful and respectful, because it can be dangerous too!!
Algo tan delicado pero al mismo tiempo, tan fuerte!! Me encanta, pero como con la vida, necesitamos ser cuidadosos y respetuosos, porque tambien puede ser peligrosa!!

Maybe it's that we don't have too much here, maybe it's that I don't need to shovel it, maybe it's that I don't need to drive when there is snow on the roads (John is the one doing it and he's an expert, grew up in Saskatchewan and Manitoba!!), or maybe it's just that I'm blessed being able to appreciate its beauty!!
Quizas es que no tenemos mucha por aqui, quizas es que no tengo que palearla, quizas es que no tengo que conducir cuando hay nieve en las calles (John es el que lo hace y es un experto, crecio en Saskatchewan y Manitoba!!), o tal vez es simplemente que tengo la bendicion de poder apreciar su belleza!!

Valentine's Day!! - Dia de San Valentin!!

Yesterday we celebrated Valentine's day, and had a great time as you'll notice in the pictures below!! Now, one of the reasons I left the Christmas decorations until "late" was to be able to left the Christmas tree until this week and be able to form a heart from it, to celebrate our 5 years since our "first date" and Valentine's day too!!
Ayer celebramos el dia de San Valentin, y como podran notar en las fotos a continuacion, la pasamos genial!! Ahora, una de las razones por las que deje las decoraciones navidenas hasta "tan tarde" fue para poder dejar el arbol de Navidad hasta esta semana y poder formar un corazon, para celebrar los 5 anos desde nuestra "primera cita" y tambien el dia de San Valentin!!

Feb. 11, 2009, was our first date, and as part of the 5 years celebration, I decided to form a heart from the Christmas tree we had for last Christmas!! Once John got up, this was waiting for him, and his comment: "Thanks for the cat face"!! And after that, I was also seeing a cat face!!
Feb. 11, 2009, fue nuestra primera cita, y como parte de la celebracion de los 5 anos, decidi formar un corazon del arbol de Navidad que tuvimos para Navidad!! Una vez John se levanto, este estaba esperando por el, y su comentario: "Gracias por la cara de gato"!! Y despues de eso, yo tambien estaba ya viendo una cara de gato!!
  

But I fixed it for Valentine's day, and for sure looks more like a heart!!
Pero lo arregle para el dia de San Valentin, y seguro que si luce mas como un corazon!!

The cards John and I gave to each other, his is the red and golden one!!
Las tarjetas que nos dimos John y yo, la de el es la roja y dorada!!

And with other ones. The one with roses is from his parents, and the others are still from Christmas-Winter time!!
Y con otras. La de las rosas es de sus padres, y las otras son todavia de Navidad-Invierno!! 

And now, the dinner!! Creme-Brulee before being caramelized.

Almost ready for dinner, with scissors, clarified butter, and lemon, for the lobster tail, and to drink, sparkling juice that we both love!!
Casi listos para cenar, con tijeras, mantequilla clarificada, y limon, para la cola de langosta, y de beber, jugo espumoso que a ambos nos encanta!!
   

Tarararan!!! Dinner is served!! Lobster tail, steak, grated mashed potatoes, and garlicky asparagus!!

Bear creek park ... again!! - Parque quebrada del oso ..... de nuevo!!

I hope you aren't getting tired of Bear creek park!! But every time I go, there are always new opportunities for me to enjoy, and of course, to take pictures and post them for you to enjoy too!! And this day wasn't an exception, you'll see what I'm talking about!!
Espero que no se esten cansando del Parque quebrada del oso!! Pero cada vez que voy, siempre hay nuevas oportunidades para disfrutar, y por supuesto, para tomar fotos y bajarlas para que ustedes las disfruten tambien !! Y este dia no fue una excepcion, ya veran de lo que estoy hablando!!

I was walking towards the squirrel, but a couple was walking the other way and I just signaled to them to wait for me to be able to take the picture, and thanks to them that waited, here you have it!!
Yo estaba caminando hacia la ardilla, pero una pareja venia del otro lado y simplemente les senale que esperaran para yo poder tomar la foto, y gracias a que esperaron, aqui la tienen!!
 

First time I saw parts of the creek frozen!! But the greatest thing about it, the ducks are enjoying the water and the ice too!! And if you zoom the picture, you'll see some of them flying too!!
Primera vez que veo partes de la quebrada congelada!! Pero lo mas grandioso, que los patos estan disfrutando tanto del agua como del hielo!! Y si amplian la foto, podran ver algunos de ellos volando tambien!!



This one isn't afraid of the ice, me.... no way I'll walk on that thin ice!!

How incredible nature is!! We can imagine they are cold walking on the ice, but as they don't have too much circulation in its legs, it's completely OK for them, they aren't freezing at all!!

Que incredible es la naturaleza!! Podemos imaginarnos que estan bien frios caminando en el hielo, pero como no tienen mucha circulacion en las patas, esta bien para ellos, no se estan congelando para nada!!

Mount Seymour. - Monte Seymour.

Last week I went with some friends to Mount Seymour, a ski resort near Vancouver. My friends went to ski with their older son (4 years old), meanwhile I stayed with their youngest and taking pictures around!! It was great to enjoy the snow again, more knowing that John was resting at home, and we both enjoying what we were doing!! It was a beautiful afternoon and the sunset just spectacular, you'll see it!!
La semana pasada fui con unos amigos al Monte Seymour, un resort de ski cerca a Vancouver. Mis amigos se fueron a esquiar con el hijo mayor (de 4 anos), mientras yo me quede con la menor y tomando fotos alrededor!! Fue grandioso disfrutar de la nieve de nuevo, mas sabiendo que John estaba descansando en casa, y ambos disfrutando de lo que estabamos haciendo!! Fue una tarde preciosa y el atardecer simplemente espectacular, ya lo veran!!

 5:15 p.m. It's amazing how relaxed and at peace, and at the same time, so alive and so exhilarated I feel when enjoying nature and all that beauty around!!

We all know that after Winter, Spring will follow, and with these colors, it almost feels like Spring already!!
Todos sabemos que luego del invierno, sigue la primavera, y con estos colores, ya se siente como primavera!!

People who cannot see the beauty of places like this one, are somehow blind. What a great gift we have having our sight, and being able to appreciate the beauty that is there for all of us!!
La gente que no logra ver la belleza de lugares como este, estan, de alguna forma, ciegos. Que regalo tan grandioso tenemos con nuestra vista, y pudiendo apreciar la belleza que esta ahi para todos nosotros!!

I know it's an spectacular landscape for me, because I'm looking at it with my eyes, but I really hope that you can see the beauty in it too!!
Se que es un escenario espectacular para mi, porque lo estoy mirando con mis ojos, pero realmente espero que ustedes tambien puedan ver la belleza de este!!

We all can see the same thing but we are seeing it differently, it all depends how we perceive beauty!! And for me, this sunset was spectacular!!
Todos podemos ver la misma cosa pero la vemos diferente, todo depende de como percibimos la belleza!! Y para mi, este atardecer fue espectacular!!

What a pleasure it was to be there, at this exact moment, delighting myself with this unique sunset!!
Que placentero fue el estar alli, en este preciso momento, deleitandome con este atardecer unico!!

We can look at a sunset like this as another way for nature to show us its sublime beauty and its magnificence too!!
Podemos mirar a un atardecer como este como otra forma en que la naturaleza nos muestra su belleza sublime y su magnificencia tambien!!

Sunsets are normally superb, but Winter sunsets are somehow even prettier, don't you agree?!!
Los atardeceres son normalmente magnificos, pero los atardeceres de invierno son de alguna forma aun mas bellos, no opinan lo mismo?
 

Yes, I ''retouched'' it, but the sunset colors were looking like a painting too!!
Si, la ''retoque'', pero los colores del atardecer tambien lucian como una pintura!!

Even at night, skiers and visitors like me, can enjoy the illuminated trails and all the snow around!!
Aun en la noche, esquiadores y visitantes como yo, podemos disfrutar de las pistas iluminadas y de toda la nieve alrededor!!
  

We can always have hope that after a dark night, the sun will shine again!! Then let's give thanks for a beautiful night view like this one!!
Siempre podemos tener esperanza que luego de una oscura noche, el sol volvera a brillar!! Asi que vamos a dar gracias por una hermosa escena nocturna como esta!!

It was night already and the waxing crescent moon was looking like an eclipse. I took the picture hoping it'll appear the way I was looking at it. Once at home I retouched it, and here you have how it was looking, the whole circle with the crescent whiter than the rest, enjoy it!!
Ya era de noche y la luna en creciente menguante lucia como un eclipse. Tome la foto con la esperanza de que apareciera en la forma en la que yo la estaba viendo. Una vez en casa la retoque, y aqui tienen como lucia, todo el circulo con el creciente menguante mas blanco que el resto, disfrutenla!!

What a magnificent combination, the beauty of ice, snow, and the green branches of a pine tree. And yes, it was cold, but I hope it also warms your hearts as it did with mine!!
Que combinacion tan magnifica, la belleza del hielo, la nieve, y las ramas verdes de un pino. Y si, estaba haciendo frio, pero espero que tambien les ''caliente'' sus corazones como lo hizo con el mio!!
