Last week, when I posted the other pictures of flowers, I forgot about posting this one and the other 3 after this one, but here you have them, to continue enjoying all of them with me!!
La semana pasada, cuando baje las otras fotos de flores, olvide bajar esta y las 3 que le siguen, pero aqui las tienen, para que continuen gozandolas conmigo!!

Nature, like life, sometimes shows us things that ''seem'' not to belong there, but if we can accept that this ''weird'' petal belongs to the flower, we can also accept that everything in our lives happens for a good reason, even if sometimes it looks like ''it doesn't belong there'' to us!!
La naturaleza, como la vida, algunas veces nos muestras cosas que ''parecen'' no pertenecer ahi, pero si podemos aceptar que este petalo ''extrano'' pertenece a la flor, tambien podemos aceptar que todo en nuestras vidas sucede por una buena razon, aunque algunas veces nos parezca como ''fuera de lugar''!!
    

There are certain things that we cannot understand, but only appreciate!! Like this huge flower, so ''heavy'' that the plant cannot keep it up, but we can still enjoy it even laying down on the grass!!
Hay ciertas cosas que no podemos entender, solo apreciarlas!! Como esta flor gigantesca, tan ''pesada'' que la planta no la puede mantener levantada, pero nosotros podemos disfrutarla aunque este posada en la grama!!

Every time I see a pretty flower like this one, I smile. And if somebody smiles because of my smile, or because the picture, wow, what a great good we all are getting from them!!
Cada vez que veo una flor hermosa como esta, sonrio. Y si alguien sonrie debido a mi sonrisa, o por la foto, guau, que bien mas grandioso conseguimos todos por parte de ellas!!
  

This week I went, walking again, to buy some groceries, and just one week later, look at the different and gorgeous flowers I enjoyed this time!!
Esta semana fui, caminando de nuevo, a comprar algo de mercado, y solo una semana mas tarde, miren las flores tan diferentes y hermosas que disfrute esta vez!!

Karva Chauth - Hindu celebration - Celebracion Hindu

Last Tuesday, Oct. 22, I went with Kirti to a Hindu celebration, Karva Chauth, in which married women fast from sunrise to moonrise, and also pray for the well being and longevity of their husbands. Single women can also observe this celebration, fasting and praying for their fiances or future husbands.
And living in a place so multicultural, I'm glad I can enjoy and learn so much about other cultures, about different traditions, about other religions!! 
El pasado martes, Oct. 22, fui con Kirti a una celebracion Hindu, Karva Chauth, en la cual las mujeres casadas ayunan desde el amanecer hasta que sale la luna, y tambien oran por el bienestar y longevidad de sus maridos. Las mujeres solteras tambien pueden practicar la celebracion, ayunando y orando por sus prometidos o futuros maridos.
Y viviendo en un lugar tan multicultural, me siento afortunada de poder disfrutar y aprender tanto sobre otras culturas, sobre tradiciones diferentes, sobre otras religiones!!

Kirti outside her house. Look at the gorgeous sari!! (For the ones who don't know, sari is a top and then a long piece around for the skirt and then around the shoulder, this one is all in silk!!)
Kirti afuera de su casa. Miren el sari tan hermoso!! (Para los que no saben, sari es un top y luego una pieza larga alrededor para la falda y luego alrededor del hombro, este es todo en seda!!)

Before entering the temple, little candles that women put there.
Antes de entrar al templo, pequenas velitas que las mujeres ponen ahi. 

The two at the top are us leaving the temple, the two at the bottom, from when we arrived!!
Las dos arriba somos nosotras ya saliendo del templo, las dos abajo, de cuando llegamos!!

This is the ''altar'' inside the temple, and behind it there are more ''little altars''.
Este es el ''altar'' dentro del templo, y detras hay ''altares'' mas pequenos.
 

This is one of the little ones.
Este es uno de los que estan por detras.

In these trays we can find make up, jewellery (fake!!), some sweets, a little candle, things that every group of women will ''share'' in the circle they form.
En estas bandejas podemos encontrar maquillaje, joyas (falsas!!), algunos dulces, una velita, cosas que cada grupo de mujeres ''compartiran'' en el circulo que forman.
  

This is the ''storyteller'', that normally narrate the story of Karva Chauth, most of the time singing it, with regular pauses.
Este es el ''contador de la historia'', que normalmente narra la historia del Karva Chauth, la mayor parte del tiempo cantandola, con pausas regulares.

Some of the women bring a kind of tray (thalis), sometimes covered with a veil or piece of cloth (like here), with fruits, sometimes money, a little candle, between other things.
Algunas de las mujeres llevan como una bandeja (thalis), algunas veces cubiertas con un velo o una pieza de tela (como en esta foto), con frutas, algunas veces dinero, una vela pequenita, entre otras cosas.
 

But some of them also bring it uncovered. Here Kirti is telling her where she can sit down, I think!!
Pero algunas de ellas tambien la llevan descubierta. Aqui Kirti le esta indicando a ella donde puede sentarse, eso creo!!

During the storyteller pauses, the women, sat in circles, pass their thalis around in the circle.
Durante las pausas del narrador, las mujeres, sentadas en circulos, pasan sus ''bandejas'' alrededor del circulo.

It's like a way to say the other women, ''I'm here for you, you're my friend and my sister, and I wish you prosperity at home, always.'' That's what I understand!!
Es como una forma de decirles a las otras mujeres, ''Aqui estoy para ti, tu eres mi amiga y mi hermana, y te deseo prosperidad en tu hogar, siempre.'' Eso es lo que yo entiendo!!
 

Look at these ones!! I really like the dress of the younger one, what a work of embroidery!! And look at the one just behind them, with a green veil, another gorgeous one!!
Miren estas!! Me encanta el vestido de la mas joven, que trabajo de bordado!! Y miren a la que esta detras de ellas, con un velo verde, otro precioso!!

As it's ''normal'' for them, all the shoes outside to enter the temple barefoot!!
Y como es lo ''normal'' para ellos, todos los zapatos afuera para entrar al templo descalzos!!

Kirti with somebody who used to live in our place!! She was just arriving with all the things she wanted to bring to the ceremony.
Kirti con alguien que solia vivir en donde nosotros estamos ahora!! Ella apenas estaba llegando con las cosas que queria llevar a la ceremonia.

Leaving the ''big'' temple, still barefoot and ready to go to a different place, another one more like a prayer place.
Saliendo del templo ''grande'', aun descalza y lista para ir a otro lugar, uno que es mas como un lugar de oracion.

The ''other'' place. And meanwhile I was pouring the water, Kirti was praying in her language and me praying another one (about the water coming out from Jesus wounds) in Spanish!! And the other woman in the picture is also praying!!
El ''otro'' lugar. Y mientras yo chorreaba el agua, Kirti estaba orando en su lengua y yo rezando otra (acerca del agua saliendo de las heridas de Jesus) en Espanol!! Y la otra mujer en la foto tambien esta orando!!
  

And behind the glass, some of the deities they adore!! These ones are Lord Shiva with his consort, goddess Parvati. 
Y detras del vidrio, algunas de las deidades que ellos adoran!! Estos son Lord Shiva y su consorte, la diosa Parvati.

They were amazed I was asking if I could take a picture of them!! Look at all the embroidery and details of their dresses!!
Se asombraron de que preguntara si podia tomarles una foto!! Miren los bordados y detalles de sus vestidos!!

Kirti the night before. With another beautiful sari!! She went with her husband to a dinner-party for a couple that will marry Friday.
Kirti la noche anterior. Con otro hermoso sari!! Ella fue con su esposo a una fiesta-cena por una pareja que se casara el viernes.

She ''tattooed'' her hands with henna (not permanent), something ''typical'' for occasions like weddings or the celebration the day after!!

Ella ''tatuo'' sus manos con hena (no es permanente), algo ''tipico'' para ocasiones como bodas o la celebracion del dia siguiente!!

Miscelaneus - Miscelaneas

Today I'm sending more flowers pictures!! This week I went to get some groceries, and as I went walking, I had the opportunity to enjoy more beautiful flowers in different gardens .... and to take pictures of them too!!
Hoy les estoy enviando mas fotos de flores!! Esta semana fui a mercar algo, y como me fui caminando, tuve la oportunidad de disfrutar mas flores hermosas en jardines diferentes.... y tomarles fotos tambien!!

Even it's Autumn, we still can find some roses around, and of course, we are still enjoying them!!
Aunque es otono, aun podemos encontrar algunas rosas alrededor, y por supuesto, aun las seguimos gozando!!

How lucky we are being able to enjoy the dahlias for extended period of times (between garden flowers, it's one that continues blooming for longer periods than the normal average)!!
Que afortunados somos de poder disfrutar las dalias por largos periodos (entre las flores de jardin, es una de las que continua floreciendo por periodos mas largos que los promedios normales)!!

We are very fortunate being able to enjoy flowers like these beautiful Dahlias!!
Somos bien afortunados de poder disfrutar flores tan hermosas como estas dalias!!

The other day I received an email from a good friend, and it says something like that being able to see is a blessing, but being able to see in colors, what an awesome blessing!! And just look at this picture, what a blessing to be able to enjoy so much about these gorgeous flowers!!
El otro dia recibi un email de una buena amiga, y dice algo como que poder ver es una bendicion, pero poder ver en colores, que bendicion mas formidable!! Y solo miren esta foto, que bendicion poder disfrutar tanto sobre estas hermosas flores!!

Just a "normal" picture, but things that we commonly classify as "normal", are normally extraordinary if we just take a closer look. All we have to do is open our eyes!!
Simplemente una foto "normal", pero las cosas que normalmente clasificamos como "normales", son normalmente extraordinarias si les miramos mas de cerca. Todo lo que necesitamos hacer es abrir nuestros ojos!!

Miracles are in all around us. Imagine if we had to think about breathing, or about listening, or about feeling. You don't, it just happens. Isn't that amazing?!!!
Los milagros estan en todo a nuestro alrededor.  Imagina si tuvieramos que pensar en respirar, o en escuchar, o en sentir. No tenemos que, simplemente sucede. No es grandioso?!!!

Realmente parecen estar hablando entre ellas. 

Realize that beauty exists in every moment is possible; it simply takes a way of seeing things a bit differently!!
Darse cuenta de que la belleza existe en cada momento es posible; simplemente necesitamos ver las cosas en una forma un poco diferente!!

Life is all changes. Some of us resist change (and suffer), but some of us have also learned to adapt. And that's part of the beauty of life, we should learn to be like these flowers, that they don't resist, they just adapt and no matter what, they achieve their purpose!!
La vida es toda cambios. Algunos nos resistimos al cambio (y sufrimos), pero algunos tambien hemos aprendido a adaptarnos. Y esa es parte de la belleza de la vida, deberiamos aprender a ser como estas flores, que no se resisten, simplemente se adaptan y sin importar nada mas, cumplen su proposito!!

Incredible what little ''changes'' can do, and not only with this picture, with our lives as well!!
Increible lo que unos pequenos ''cambios'' pueden hacer, y no solo con esta foto, con nuestras vidas tambien!!
