Cherries and raccoon!! - Cerezas y mapache!!

The last weekend of May 2009 I moved in with John and the last weekend of May 2016, 7 years later!!, I just discovered that we have a cherry tree in our backyard!!!
I was very excited and some days later I began enjoying some very sweet and delicious cherries, as many as I could because they were a little high and I had "competence" with birds, and another animals like raccoons!!!
El ultimo fin de semana de Mayo 2009 me mude con John y el ultimo fin de semana de Mayo 2016, 7 anos despues!!, descubri que tenemos un cerezo en el jardin trasero!!!
Me emocione mucho y algunos dias mas tarde comenze a disfrutar algunas cerezas muy dulces y deliciosas, tantas como pude porque estaban algo altas y tenia "competencia" con pajaros, y otros animales como mapaches!!!

Fortunately, it was enjoying the higher ones that I couldn't reach!!!
Afortunadamente, este estaba disfrutando de las mas altas que yo no podia alcanzar!!!

Some days after finishing enjoying them (the last ones were too ripe and very high!!), I was with one of my windows open and listened a couple animals "fighting", went out and a big raccoon was attacking a smaller one, with the smaller one almost falling from the branch. Began to scream trying to stop the fight and finally the bigger one left and I felt like I saved the smaller one!!
Algunos dias despues de terminar de disfrutarlas (las ultimas estaban muy maduras y muy altas!!), estaba con una de mis ventanas abierta y escuche un par de animales "peleando", sali y un mapache grande estaba atacando uno pequeno, y el pequeno casi cayendose de la rama. Comenze a gritar tratando de parar la pelea y finalmente el mas grande se fue y senti como que habia salvado al pequeno!!
    

It was making a "crying" sound but didn't see any blood and at least wasn't hanging from the branch!!
Estaba haciendo un sonido como "llorando" pero no le vi sangre y al menos no estaba colgando de la rama!!

Ran inside and change the lens and here you have a couple of really cute pictures, with the raccoon now safe and sound in a bigger branch!!
Corri adentro y cambie el lente y aqui tienen un par de fotos super tiernas, con el mapache a salvo y en una rama mas grande!!

Spring 2016!!!! - Primavera 2016!!!!

Even I didn't visit many places during part of the Spring, I enjoyed some gorgeous flowers in the gardens around and also visited some parks whenever my energy level was letting me to do so!! But this time I'm only posting some from ours and our neighbor's gardens!!
I didn't write about each one of them, still have many pictures to post and want to do that and be up to date as soon as possible!!
Aunque no visite muchos lugares durante parte de la primavera, disfrute de unas flores preciosas en los jardines alrededor y tambien visite algunos parques cuando mi nivel de energia me lo permitia!! Pero esta vez solo estoy bajando algunas de nuestro jardin y del del vecino!!
No escribi sobre cada una de ellas, aun tengo muchas fotos por bajar y quiero hacerlo y estar al dia tan pronto como me sea posible!!

I enjoy them for the short time they are beautifying our gardens, but after their time is over, we all can enjoy them looking at the pictures ..... at least until next year!!!
Las disfruto por el corto tiempo que embellecen nuestros jardines, pero despues de que pasa su momento, todos podemos disfrutarles mirando las fotos ..... al menos hasta el proximo ano!!!

One of their most distinguished features are their long tail feathers, which are often twitched back and forth like the pendulum of a clock, reason for them to be called pendulum bird as well!!
Una de sus caracteristicas mas distintivas son las largas plumas de su cola, las que con frecuencia mueven como el pendulo de un reloj, razon por la que tambien los llaman pajaro pendulo!!
  

And yes, they also enjoy the banana!!!

It rained the night before and my last morning there I enjoyed some fog!!
LLovio la noche anterior y mi ultima manana alli disfrute de un poco de neblina!! 

I love fog!! Even sometimes life is like driving in the fog, no matter if we can only see as far as the headlights, we know that sooner or later it will pass and we'll safely arrive to our destination!!
Me encanta la neblina!! Aunque algunas veces la vida es como manejar en la neblina, sin importar que apenas podamos ver la distancia que las luces nos iluminan, sabemos que tarde o temprano pasara y llegaremos a salvo a nuestro destino!!

What a gorgeous place, how fortunate they are to be able to live there, and they know it!!!
Que lugar mas hermoso, que afortunados son de poder vivir ahi, y ellos lo saben!!!

Have you ever think that water (from rain, rivers, oceans, etc.) is a "miracle" of life? Every time I drink a glass of water I'm grateful we can still do it!!!!
Han pensado alguna vez que el agua (de lluvia, rios, oceanos, etc.) es un "milagro" de la vida? cada vez que bebo un vaso con agua me siento agradecida que aun podemos hacerlo!!!!
  

Simply delicious!!! I enjoyed one of them every morning meanwhile I was there!!

More and more I'm convinced that everything happens for a good reason, and for me this weekend meant being at the right place at the right moment!!

With such a flower variety, impossible not to enjoy surrounded by so much beauty!!

The banana? Very cheap!! The enjoyment all the birds coming to eat from it brings? Priceless!!!

Colombia is the country with the largest number of different kind of orchids in the world, 4,270 with 1,572 of them being native, and here you have one of them!!
Locally called "little shoe", is also known as "The Virgin shoe".
Colombia es el pais con el mayor numero de diferentes clases de orquideas en el mundo, 4,270 con 1,572 autoctonas, y aqui tienen una de ellas!!
Localmente llamada "zapatico", es tambien conocida como "El zapato de la Virgen".  
 

As I mentioned before, Colombia leads the world in avian biodiversity; it's home to 1.889 species, or 20% of all bird species on Earth!! And more than 75 species are unique to Colombia, this one not included, LOL!!
Como mencione antes, Colombia es el lider mundial en biodiversidad aviaria; es el hogar de 1.889 especies, o 20% de todas las especies de aves en la Tierra!! Y mas de 75 especies son exclusivas de Colombia, este no incluido, jajaja!!
  

John for sure would enjoy there, he loved roosters and this one was an spectacular one!!
John seguro hubiera disfrutado alli, le encantaban los gallos y este estaba espectacular!!

And I know Colombia is also very well known for its fighting roosters, but this one belongs to a nice family that is using it just as a beautiful addition to the other animals they have!!
I se que Colombia tambien es bien conocida por sus gallos de pelea, pero este pertenece a una familia muy agradable que solo lo usa como una hermosa adicion a los otros animales que tienen!!

With places like this one, how not to consider this country blessed by nature?!!!
Con lugares como este, como no considerar este pais bendecido por la naturaleza?!!!

Something interesting about them: Normally with white plumage and a yellow bill and legs, during the breeding season adults develop orange-buff plumes on the back, breast and crown, and the bill, legs and irises become bright red for a brief period prior to pairing!!
Algo interesante sobre ellas: Normalmente con plumaje blanco y pico y patas amarillas, durante la temporada de apareamiento los adultos desarollan una coloracion anaranjada en las plumas de la espalda, cuello y cresta, y el pico, patas e irises se tornan rojo brillante por un corto periodo de tiempo antes de emparejarse!!

Colombia has the largest number of endemic species (species that aren't found naturally anywhere else) worldwide. About 10% of the species in the world live in Colombia.  It feels great to know that Colombia is also known for its spectacular fauna!!
Colombia tiene el mayor numero de especies endemicas (especies que no se encuentran naturalmente en ninguna otra parte) del mundo. Mas o menos 10% de las especies del mundo viven en Colombia. Es grandioso saber que Colombia tambien es conocida por su fauna espectacular!!

Who hadn't desired to fly like a bird? I suppose all of us at least once in our lives!!
Quien no ha deseado volar como un pajaro? Me supongo que todos nosotros al menos una vez en nuestras vidas!!

We humans should be more like birds still singing after the storm, delighting in whatever remains!!
Nosotros los humanos deberiamos ser mas como los pajaros que siguen cantando despues de la tormenta, deleitandose con lo que quedo!!

We are so fortunate to have so many species that in some regions you can find in just one tree more species than in a whole forest in a country with seasons, just imagine that!!!
Somos tan afortunados de tener tantas especies que en algunas regiones se puede encontrar en un solo arbol mas clases de orquideas que en un bosque entero de un pais con estaciones, solo imaginenselo!!!
