Last days!! - Los ultimos dias!!

 Last week I needed to go to change something, and coming back, I saw this squirrel with a big peanut in its mouth!! I barely moved trying to reach my camera from the bottom of my purse, taking it out, and getting ready to take the picture, and of course, praying meanwhile for it not to run!! And I got it!! And then, it was a full moon that night, and I also took some pictures for all of us to enjoy!!
 I have had some appointments since last week and in different places, and of course, took some more pictures of "interesting" animals, that once writing about them, I'll let you know where they were taken!!  
La semana pasada tenia que ir a cambiar algo, y regresando, vi esta ardilla con un gran cacahuete en su boca!! Casi sin moverme busque mi camara en el fondo de mi bolso, la saque, y me prepare para la foto, y  por supuesto, rezando para que la ardilla no se fuera!! Y lo logre!! Y luego, esa noche tuvimos luna llena, y tambien tome fotos para que todos las disfrutemos!!
Yo he tenido varias citas de trabajo desde la semana pasada  y en diferentes lugares, y por supuesto, tome mas fotos de algunos animales "interesantes", que una vez escriba sobre ellas ya les dejare saber donde las tome!!      

I'm very glad it was so patient and waited for me to be able to take the picture!!
Estoy feliz de que fuera tan paciente y esperara para que yo pudiera tomar la foto!!

Yes, it is a black one, but the opportunity was there, and I don't complaint about things I cannot change, like its color!! And no matter what, I think is adorable!!
Si, es una negra, pero la oportunidad estaba ahi, y no me quejo sobre cosas que no puedo cambiar, como su color!! Y sin importar nada mas, la encuentro adorable!!

I need to continue practicing taking more ''night pictures'' but I really like this one anyway!! And I also took a couple of them with an app, but this one (automatic) was better, incredible!!
Necesito continuar practicando tomando mas fotos ''nocturnas'' pero de todas formas esta me gusta  mucho!! Y tome un par de ellas con una de las aplicaciones, pero esta (automatica) fue mejor, increible!!

Una luna llena magnifica, con algunas nubes alrededor!!

And here I finish with the moon, with a very bright brooch!! 
Mas tarde, con algo de neblina y mas lejana !! Si la agrandan, podran ver los ''crateres''!!
Y aqui termino con la luna, con un broche bien brillante!!

Also last week, Sunday, I went to visit a friend to the hospital near by, and coming back home, this gorgeous blue heron was there, with some branches in front, but still very visible!!
Tambien la semana pasada, el domingo, fui a visitar una amiga al hospital que queda cerca, y de regreso a casa, esta hermosa garza azul estaba ahi, con unas ramas en frente, pero aun bien visible!!

And here, probably ready to fish!! Near Bear creek park, but not in the park.
Y aqui, probablemente lista para pescar!! Cerca al parque quebrada del oso, pero no dentro del parque.

Monday I came back to the office near where the geese are, and of course, I went to ''visit'' them again!! And even it was very foggy, was better than when I left home!!
El lunes pasado regrese a la oficina cerca a donde estan los gansos, y por supuesto, fui a ''visitarlos'' de nuevo!! Y aunque habia bastante neblina, estaba mejor que cuando sali de casa!!

After the appointment, with the fog gone, I came back for some more minutes and fortunately I had a great opportunity to take a picture of them flying, they look so cool!!
Luego de la cita, ya sin neblina, regrese por algunos minutos, y afortunadamente tuve una gran oportunidad de tomarles una foto volando, lucen genial!!

What a juggler!!, and what do  you think of the ones in the back like ''framing'' the juggler?!!
Que malabarista!!, y que piensan de los otros en la parte de atras como ''enmarcando'' al malabarista?!!

..... And today I'll show you how to walk in straight line!!
..... Y hoy les voy a mostrar como caminar en linea recta!!
 

 I don't know how they do it, how can they stand in one leg when their bodies are so big?!!
No se como lo hacen, como se pueden parar en una pata cuando sus cuerpos son tan grandes?!!

Very interesting!! I just learned they do that to regulate their body temperature!! And in order to stand on one leg, they move their leg to their centre of gravity line!!
Muy interesante!! Acabo de aprender que lo hacen para regular la temperatura de sus cuerpos!! Y para poder estar en una sola pata la mueven hacia el centro de su linea de gravedad!!

And that same day, I decided to come back home through Bear Creek park again, sat down for a couple of minutes and waited until this one came!!
Y ese mismo dia, decidi regresar a casa cruzando el parque Quebrada del Oso de nuevo, me sente por un par de minutos y espere hasta que este vino!!

Wednesday I needed to come back to the same office I went 2 days before, and surprise!!, a snow goose (the white one) was between them!!
El miercoles necesite regresar a la misma oficina a la que fui 2 dias antes, y sorpresa!!, un ganso de nieve (el blanco) estaba entre ellos!!

And not only the snow goose, I also saw a coyote!!! (Left side, upper part of the picture.)
Y no solo el ganso de nieve, tambien vi un coyote!!! (Lado izquierdo, parte de arriba de la foto.)

I thought it was a huge seagull, but I was wrong, the size and the beak are from an snow goose!!
Pense que era una gaviota bien grande, pero estaba errada, el tamano y el pico son de un ganso de nieve!!
 

 And it just behaves like any other goose!! Y se comporta como otro simple ganso!!

 And more flying, very fortunate I had been able to take a couple of pictures with them flying!!
Y mas volando, me siento super afortunada de haber podido tomar un par de fotos de ellos volando!!

And again, with such a nice weather, came back walking through the park!!
Y de nuevo, con un clima tan agradable, regrese caminando por el parque!!
  

A couple was ''feeding'' the ducks, but of course, squirrels also take advantage of the food around!!
Una pareja estaba ''alimentando'' los patos, pero por supuesto, las ardillas tambien se aprovechan de la comida alrededor!!
 

And here I finish this post, with a magnificent female duck showing ''us'' her blue feathers (under the wing)!!
Y aqui termino con esta tanda, con una pata magnifica ''mostrandonos'' sus plumas azules (bajo el ala)!! 

Geese!! - Gansos!!

As you know, British Columbia has the best weather in Canada, and as I mentioned before, many birds don't migrate because here is completely okay for them, and I think that for these geese, that's the case!!
Como ya saben, Columbia Britanica tiene el mejor clima en Canada, y como mencione antes, muchas aves no migran porque aqui esta muy bien para ellos, y yo creo que para estos gansos, ese es el caso!!

It was drizzling, but I didn't care, and either the goose!! If you zoom it, you can see the rain drops on its feathers!!
Estaba lloviznando, pero no me importo, y tampoco al ganso!! Si la agrandan, pueden ver las goticas de lluvia en sus plumas!!

One of the most talkative animals after humans!! Just imagine that the goslings (babies) communicate with their moms .... while still in the egg!!
Uno de los animales mas habladores despues de los humanos!! Solo imaginense que los gansitos se comunican con sus mamas ..... mientras aun estan en el huevo!! 

Both red trains are moving, one coming and one going, but it seems they are used to all the movement around!!
Ambos trenes rojos estaban moviendose, uno viniendo y otro llendo, pero parece que ellos ya estan acostumbrados a todo ese movimiento alrededor!!

Geese are some of the few birds that males and females are similar in color. They have other differences like size, the neck, behavior, between others that can help identify the sex of the goose, and I think this one is a female one!!
Los gansos son unos de los pocos pajaros en los que machos y hembras son de colores similares. Tienen otras diferencias como tamano, el cuello, comportamiento, entre otras que ayudan a identificar el sexo del ganso, y creo que este es una hembra!! 
 

And this one, a male, look at its chest!!
Y este, un macho, miren el pecho!!

They are plenty of them around, but if you see a lone goose, it may be the male. They mate for life, and the male is normally the one that patrol protecting the nest, but of course, not in this case!!
Hay muchos de ellos alrededor, pero si ves un ganso solitario, debe ser el macho. Ellos se ''emparejan'' de por vida, y es el macho el que normalmente patrulla protegiendo el nido, pero por supuesto, no en este caso!!
 

I'm very glad they don't migrate, I can enjoy them all year round!!
Que bien que no migran, asi los puedo disfrutar todo el ano!!

Can you see the size difference? I think the one in the middle is a female!!
Pueden ver la diferencia de tamano? Creo que la de la mitad es una hembra!!

For sure they are used to the movement around, the white truck was moving and they didn't care at all!!
Seguro que ya estan acostumbrados al movimiento alrededor, la camioneta blanca se estaba moviendo y ellos ni se inmutaron!!

Birthdays!! - Cumpleanos!!

As I mentioned before, last week we went to celebrate Sapna's birthday (the only daughter of our landlords), and being there, we watched a video from an early Dishank's birthday party (their youngest son), like 11 or 12 years ago!! John was there and watching the video for sure brought some funny memories from back then!!
Como mencione antes, la semana pasada fuimos a celebrar el cumpleanos de Sapna (la unica hija de nuestros rentadores), y estando alli, vimos un video de una fiesta de cumpleanos de Dishank cuando nino (es su hijo menor), hace como 11 o 12 anos!! John estuvo ahi y ver el video seguro le recordo algunos momentos graciosos de aquel entonces!!

11 or 12 years ago, Dishank asked his mom to invite ''his friend John'' to his birthday party!! Opening John's gifts at this moment, a walkie talkie and lights for his new bike!!
Hace 11 o 12 anos, Dishank le dijo a su mama que invitara a ''su amigo John'' a su fiesta de cumpleanos!!
En este momento estaba abriendo los regalos de John, un woki toki y luces para su nueva bicicleta!!
 

We enjoyed a great evening, and seeing John enjoying so much was amazing!!
Disfrutamos una velada grandiosa, y viendo a John disfrutando tanto fue maravilloso!!
 

Dishank opening John's birthday card (yes, it seems he opened the gifts before the card!), and I don't know who enjoyed the most, Dishank at that time, or John watching the video!!

Some of my favorites!! - Algunas de mis favoritas!!

Since last December I began to ''clean'' my laptop a little, meaning deleting some old messages, folders, and even some pictures!! And meanwhile doing it, I decided that I'll post some of my favorites since 2005, for you to enjoy them with me!! This post will have pictures until 2008, will post more later!!
Desde el pasado Diciembre comenze a ''limpiar'' un poco mi laptop, lo que significa borrar algunos viejos mensajes, carpetas, e inclusive algunas fotos!! Y mientras lo voy haciendo, decidi que voy a bajar algunas de mis favoritas desde el 2005, para que las disfruten conmigo!! Esta tanda tendra fotos hasta el 2008, bajare mas despues!!

September 2005 (the only one from that year). I was in Canada and planning to come back to Colombia, but before leaving, a friend and her family came from USA and we went to the aquarium, where after a lot of efforts to take the picture over the safe ''glass'', finally got this one, with them holding hands!!
Septiembre del 2005 (la unica de ese ano). Estaba en Canada y planeando regresar a Colombia, pero antes de regresarme, una amiga y su familia vinieron de USA y fuimos al acuario, donde luego de varios esfuerzos para tomar la foto sobre el ''vidrio'' protector, finalmente consegui esta, con ellas cogidas de las manos!!

I know, this is a post for some of my favorites, but between them, this is one of my favorites!!
I came back to Canada Nov. 5th. 2006, and Nov. 26, my mom's birthday, I enjoyed my first snow in Canada, and I like to think it was a ''gift'' from her!! And this one is also the only one from 2006.
Ya se, esta es una tanda de algunas de mis favoritas, pero entre ellas, esta es una de mis favoritas!!
Regrese a Canada el 5 de Nov. del 2006, y el 26 de Nov., el cumpleanos de mi mama, disfrute de mi primera nieve en Canada, y me gusta pensar que fue un ''regalo'' de su parte!! Y esta tambien es la unica del 2006.

Summer 2008. Celebration of light. An event of 3-4 nights (normally Wednesdays and Saturdays), where almost half a million people is attracted along English Bay (Vancouver) to enjoy the largest offshore fireworks competition in the world!!
Verano del 2008. Celebracion de luces. Un evento de 3-4 noches (normalmente miercoles y sabados), donde casi medio millon de personas son atraidas a lo largo de Bahia Inglesa (Vancouver) para disfrutar de la competicion de fuegos artificiales (desde el mar, cerca a la playa) mas grande del mundo!!

Was using my ''new'' digital camera (got it Boxing day 2007!!) and playing and enjoying with all its apps!!
Estaba usando mi ''nueva'' camara digital (que la consegui el dia despues de Navidad del 2007!!) y jugando y disfrutando con todas sus aplicaciones!!

It's a wonderful event, but far away from where we live now, and with John not liking multitudes (me either, but for opportunities like this one, I don't care too much!!), that was my last time going to enjoy them!!
Es un evento grandioso, pero lejos de donde vivimos ahora, y con John que no le gustan las multitudes (a mi tampoco, pero con oportunidades como esta, no me importa demasiado!!), esa fue la ultima vez que fui a disfrutarlos!!

Last year (2013) the competitors were United Kingdom, Canada (Calgary), and Thailand. Back then, Spain was one of them, with Canada of course, and China. And Canada was the winner.
El ano pasado (2013) los competidores fueron Reino Unido, Canada (Calgary), y Tailandia. En aquel entonces, Espana fue uno de ellos, con Canada por supuesto, y China. Y Canada fue el ganador.

Ah!! and it isn't just fireworks, music too!! And sometimes the combination was just amazing, just like the fireworks in this picture!!
Ah!! y no son solo fuegos artificiales, con musica tambien!! Y algunas veces la combinacion era simplemente grandiosa, como en los fuegos artificiales de esta foto!!
